What with yesterday being the 1st of April, there's still a little lingering suspicion hanging around Shiny Towers. I was half-way through the Amazon ordering system for this gadget before I conceded that it was real; it just sounded silly. The Viatec ionic CFL bulb is eco friendly, using 15 watts to produce 60 watts of light, but that's obviously not the silly bit. The 'ionic' bit apparently purifies the air by generating negative ions which attach themselves to pollutants. The bit that made me think of fools was the suggestion that this somehow forces particles to drop to the floor, where they're easily vacuumed up. Hmm.

I first heard about the ionic germ bulb from a friend. I seriously thought it had to be a joke. But thanks for the post. I'm considering getting one now. What a cool idea!
