Nokia has announced two more basic handsets, which they reckon combine minimalist good looks with non-shabby features.
The 6600 Fold is a 3G clamshell phone. There's ergonomic hinging, and it opens with one touch of a button, as opposed to the labour intensive finger flick you might have previously been subjected to. There's a hidden outer display, which you 'double tap' to awaken. The same gesture can be used to snooze alarms and reject incoming calls.
The Nokia 6600 Slide is Nokia's smallest slide. Of course, that's not saying much when you look at their alternative N-Series slide phones... There's the same external 'double tap' interface, but this version beats the Fold's meagre 2 megapixel camera, instead, going for a 3.2 megapixel shooter. There's also Nokia Maps pre-installed, with the option of adding a Bluetooth GPS module.
The Fold has an estimated retail price of 275 euros, whilst the Slide is 250 euros. However, as always, you're bound to be able to pick it up for less on a contract.
