April Fools: Well, did you fall for these?

Comments (2)

AprilFoolHeadset_wip.jpgIt's been a day of persistent gaggery, but now that it's after 12pm (in the UK), all bets are off. So, out of the stories below, which ones did you fall for? Apologies for breaking it to you if you were actually fooled...

1. The iMind

A mind-reading iPod controller is actually pretty cool. We'd love it if this were true, since it would mean just thinking about a particular track would make it play. Great for when you're on a bike or in the car, and, as T3 reminds us "when you're so squashed on the Tube that you can't even move your arms and that awful Michael Buble track comes on, you can still easily skip to something less cringeworthy".

Even Abi's Alan Partridge-quality straight face couldn't hide the comedy roots of this particular gadget. You type, and this generates enough power to keep your computer running, even if you unplug the mains switch. Of course, remember to type hard - the more effort you put into it, the more power you'll generate. The testimonials on IWOOT are priceless.

3. BMW Canine Repellent Alloy Protection

As reported by Metro, this is a scheme for protecting the cars of the upper middle classes; the C.R.A.P. (geddit?) system designed by Dr. Hans Zoff (geddit again?) delivers a small electric charge to your pooch if it dares piss on the tyres. I hope no dog welfare groups took it seriously...

Seen a better one? Send them over and we'll add them to the list (and credit you, of course).

I liked the ones on ThinkGeek (there are some on my blog), especially the caffeine breakfast cereal (I want some!). ArchieMcPhee.com had a few, but they weren't that funny or believable in the least...

As for me, I didn't get fooled by anything today. I'd only read about the keyboard in your list, but it was too far-out to be true.

I also liked the Blizzard jokes, though I didn't fall for those either: a new class for the WoW expansion - the Bard (http://www.wow-europe.com/wrath/features/bard/bardclass.xml) and a new console game (with awesome pixelated graphics! http://www.wow-europe.com/en/moltencore/)

That's about it for now, but I think it'll continue...
