I've had enough time to digest all that Mobile World Congress had to offer this year, and the phones that were announced are beginning to trickle into shops and high streets across the country. Eighteen months ago there were a whole host of 'best in class' phones to get your teeth into, whether you were all about the fashion, the music or the connectivity. Having done that, you're probably due for an upgrade. So what's it going to be? Was there a Chocolate killer amongst them? Are you safe in letting go of your MDA Vario?
You had: LG Chocolate
Because: It was innovative at its time, it looked delicious and you love style
Upgrade to: LG Viewty
Because: The touch screen is this year's touch sensitive controls. It's got way more functionality, featuring a 5 megapixel camera, decent video editing software and HSDPA. Some might complain that the controls are slightly difficult, since it's all screen and no keyboard, but if you've survived the Chocolate you'll be more than happy to sacrifice a small amount of functionality for the Wow-esque looks.
You had: N73
Because: You're all about the functionality, and prize the ability to do a vast range of processor hungry tasks over anything as shallow as looks.
Upgrade to: N96
Because: Haven't you heard? Nokia's got pretty. The N96 is a world away from the N73, and functionality is even better. It's got HSDPA, WiFi, 16GB internal memory, a 5 megapixel camera, geotagging of your photos and will support all the new N-Gage games.

You had: Sony Ericsson K810 Cybershot
Because: You want to dump your camera in favour of just one device, and the Cybershot excels in doing one thing well.
Upgrade to: Samsung G800
Because: This phone is the shiz when it comes to photos. It's got a 5 megapixel camera, as well as an optical zoom lens (way better than digital zoom). There's HSDPA for super fast uploading, face detection and a Xenon flash.
You had: Sony Ericsson W880i
Because: You don't have an MP3 player - you have a phone. And you wanted that phone to be able to do all that MP3 malarky.
Upgrade to: The iPhone
Because: It's not just the looks, I promise. This truly does have one of the best user interfaces around, and with the addition of the iPlayer, it's becoming a completely addictive media player. Just be prepared to shell out for the priviledge.
You had: HTC Verio
Because: You're a business minded young thing, and you like to be on top of your emails, work on documents on the move, and generally be connected. The HTC was for you.
Upgrade to: Sony Ericsson Xperia X1
Because: It's running Windows Mobile so will have Push email and document editing, a full slide out QWERTY keyboard as well as a touchscreen, and a 3.2 megapixel camera. There have been rumours that it's being plagued by delays, and we're unlikely to be seeing it this half of 2008. Still, it's worth waiting for.

With its software updates and soon to come 3rd party apps this has become a platform rather than a phone.
And its also an iPod, what more do you want.
