Mytopia is a new social network-based gaming site which launches on the 24th of March. The folks behind this chose to prefix this news by informing us that women are prolific gamers, with 38% playing regularly for an average of 7.4 hours a week.
I'm not entirely sure what Mytopia is doing with this information, but what the service provides is a hub that enables real-time multiplayer gaming with old-fashioned favourites like Poker, Hearts, Sudoku, Backgammon and Chess. Perhaps the assumption is that classic games attract men and women more equally?
It also claims to be the first and only community that allows users to "play from any social network or widget". Points won from games can be traded for virtual items or gift certificates for Amazon, iTunes and other online retailers. There are also exclusive tournaments for higher ranked players plus all players have access to an IM client regardless of the website they're playing from.
There doesn't seem to be a temporary homepage to see, despite the preview image above, but the company behind it is Real Dice.
