I was sure I'd seen something like this before and, sure enough, Brando had been showing off this little strap-on telescope for mobile phones in 2006. Upon receiving a release for an iPhone telescope, I assumed this would be a new, improved, or differently styled version of the same.
Hmm. Although it mentions a "new design" which stops image contortion and provides a super wide angle view, the fact that it's still 6x optical zoom and the same size suggests that it is, to all intents and purposes, exactly the same product. Still, the idea of an enormously clunky add-on to a phone that's supposed to be sleek and elegant is quite amusing, so I don't mind revisiting the idea every couple of years; I just wish the marketeers wouldn't assume we won't notice.
