Mellow yellow, ol' yella, yellow submarines - the best yellow gadgets around

yellow gadgets 2.jpg

According to Wikipedia yellow "is the colour evoked by light that stimulates both the L and M (long- and medium-wavelength) cone cells of the retina about equally, but does not significantly stimulate the S (short-wavelength) cone cells". According to Catwalk Queen it's "isn't the easiest colour to pull off", according to Katie "it's Coldplay" and Stuart wants me to point out that some people say 'Lello'.

Besides all these things, it's also the colour of some lovely looking gadgets, and some less than lovely looking ones. Here are my top picks.

ASUS Lamborghini VX1 laptop
It takes a very special person to covet such a laptop. Specs are perfectly respectable, with 2GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, but let's face it - that's not the bit people are going to be paying attention to. £1500 here.

Scandyna Micropod SE Speakers
Pretty speakers... rotund speakers... speakers that make me want to go and buy a loft apartment in New York and place them lovingly against the exposed brickwork for maximum contrast. And w00t! At £169 a pair, speakers I can actually afford. If I don't eat til the 1st of the month...

Yellow MP3 sunglasses
What could make you look stupider than wearing MP3-toting sunglasses? Wearing yellow MP3-toting sunglasses! There's 512MB of internal storage and an internal microphone for recording profound thoughts on the go. And only £50!

Alcatel Mandarina Duck phone
Officially this is green, but it's the yellowist green I've ever seen. Apparently, inspiration has been taken from a duck's bill for this phone, which is... different. Inside there's an MP3 player, camera, Bluetooth and a colour-coordinated display, and you can pick them up on a monthly contract from Carphone Warehouse. And our very own Intern Georgia totes one, so it must be good.

Tetran cable winder
Loose earphones in your bag can only equal disaster, and this Tetran's raison d'etre is to avert said disaster. He'll allow you to choke his cute little mouth with ear buds and wind excess wire around his adorable little body. What a pal. Get yours here.

TotePlus iPod case
It's got retro printed fabris, it's got suede lining, it's got a strap so you can swing it jauntily as you bounce along - what's not to love? And only $45 with free shipping if you're in the US here.

ELLE No 3 Glamphone
Less about specs and more about fashion, this phone has funky menus, a soundtrack for practically every function and a sulpherous yellow paint job. Some will love it, some will hate it, but don't buy it for the camera (1.3 megapixels) or other functionality (Bluetooth, MicroSD slot... that's about it). Get it here.
