This is some serious customer service from Circuit City, sadly and unsurprisingly a US-based electronics giant. They're offering to swap customer's now defunct HD-DVD players for Blu-ray players, with the customers paying any difference in price. This is the case even if the players were bought a few months ago. They'll even give a gift card for the full HD-DVD purchase price if the customer doesn't want a Blu-ray player!
It's news that's breaking over on Gizmodo, where you can view the whole leaked CC memo here. There are readers commenting on their experiences, including one who traded his now defunct HD-DVD player for a PS3 - not a bad deal.
Could you ever see this happening in the UK? I think not. Yes, we win in the Coolest Rock Stars stakes, but we totally lose in the Customer Service Race.
