It turns out that Yamaha have diversified from keyboards and motorbikes into sporty MP3 players. The BODiBEAT is due to arrive this Spring, and is designed to be used as a sports aided, matching the songs to your pace. You can load your own MP3s and the handy premixed beat loops segment between songs of different speeds.

I'm not sure how it would deal with my running style. I use 'running' in the loosest sense of the world, since it's a 30 second walk/30 second fast walk, which might result in some schizophrenic music choices.

It will hold 512MB of music, all stored on the wristband, and uses an accelorometer and a heart monitor to determine your workout speed. When it arrives, it'll cost $299 - there's no news on a UK launch.
