Hooray for e-tickets! Hooray for not having to arrive four hours before the plane does, just so you can queue to get your seat allocation for the surly person clearly on the end of their shift! Hooray! Oh wait, you've got seat 38D on a Boeing 747. Is this good? Is this bad? How will you ever know whether you should e-change your e-seat on your e-ticket?

Thank god for Seatguru. This site allows you to pick your airline, pick your aircraft and then find out exactly where that mysterious 38D seat is. For the record, it's against the bulkhead, so may not fully recline and also, 'the proximity to the toilet may be bothersome'.

No word on whether 38E contains a small irritable child, although it does give you information about legroom, check-in times and the maximum size of carry on luggage, which is handy.
