Shi Yuan's design projects have turned me into a little girl playing house. I'm not sure my landlord would be too thrilled if I re-papered our flat, but her exploration of the ways in which simple objects like wallpaper can react to the environment has given me a desperate nesting rush.
This heat-sensitive wallpaper blossoms when the radiator is turned on, filling the room with a floral pattern I would hate in every way if it wasn't technologically brilliant, although Cath Kidston fans would probably be impressed. There's also a print using heat-sensitive inks that change colour when warmed with atmospheric heat or hands; I love a calendar where the ink fades overnight. You can't buy it yet, but great stuff.
