Mario gaming blanket, not for snuggling under

This looks like the ultimate labour of love. It's six feet wide by eight feet tall, and consists of 16 different fabrics. It's currently hanging in the owner's games room - well, if you'd spent an entire lifetime creating a blanket, would you let people snuggle under it?

What is it that tallies the crafter with the gamer? There clearly is a link, judging by the number of gaming themed craft projects we've seen recently.
