The second world's first in a day - my birthday must have come early. This time it's Klipsch with its new range of men's accessories teeny tiny earphones, which we had a brief look at before but have now become acquainted with in more detail as they've hit the UK.
Claiming to be the world's smallest and lightest, the IMAGE range packs a list of pending patents, from the earphone nozzles to the Contour Ear Gels for a comfortable, snug fit, as well as "strain relief" to prevent wire damange and KG926 balanced micro-armatures, which sounds like miniature tanks to me. Each pair comes with five different gel sizes in single and double flange designs. Yes, I'm smirking. I can't help it!
What about the numbers? Well, how about:
2 x 2.5" woofer
50" vinyl cable
10g in weight
3.5mm connector
50 ohms nominal impedance
And, erm, full range driver. Which is not a number.
All that lovely technology is wrapped up in an anodized copper and aluminium body complete with black tail to reduce cable stress and cable-generated noise. Complete with a carrying case that can cram in an 80GB iPod, a 0.25" adapter, an airline adapter and a cleaning tool for all those ear gels, it's a pretty comprehensive kit with phenomenal - some might say obsessive - attention to detail.
Expensive? Yes, but at £199, not as expensive as some of its rivals.
