Asus have started something, something... cheap. Elonex have announced a few details of their upcoming cheaper than the cheapest chips laptop, which is going to come in just under £100 and be called the ONE. Like the eeePC it'll run Linux, and be WiFi enabled. There will be a 7-inch screen, 1GB of Flash memory and a three hour battery life. Although designed for the education market, reports say it will also be available for purchase from consumers.
Elonex have said that the detachable keyboard turns it into a tablet PC, although since the screen isn't a touchscreen, it's difficult to see how this would work. One possibility is that the keyboard communicates wirelessly, so you can set up the screen and the keyboard as you would a PC (still not a tablet PC though).
It's due to be launched on February 28th at the Education Show in Birmimgham.
