Faintly reminiscent of the iTube "lava lamp for the 21st century", the Ceratec Xeno is a pair of skinny speakers, one series of which incorporates rows of colourful LEDs to cast a rainbow glow over your listening experience.
Taking the design inspiration from Bauhaus-style functional elegance and adding a modern twist sounds like something bound to be expensive, and they aren't cheap. Customisable with a range of anodising colours and grilles and available in mini, mid-sized and tall versions, prices without lights range from £850 - £2,000; the LED range comes in mid-sized and full size at £3,600 and £4,400. And you'll need to shell out at least the better part of £400 for a subwoofer. So what listening power do you get for your cash?
Well, within the tubes are four flat cone drivers and a super-tweeter, with combined handling of 100-120 Watts. The frequency range is 200-22.000 Hz without a subwoofer, boosted to 30-22.000 Hz with the addition of one.
