Ooh, it's a world's first / best / most! I love those. Does anyone else mentally place bets on how long it'll be before someone else claims to have topped it? Hopefully not too soon in this case, as I think this does look and sound pretty impressive.

The Area-51 m15x has the option of packing the new badass Intel Core 2 Extreme X9000 processor and the world's fastest notebook graphics from NVIDIA (courtesy of the GeForce 8800M GTX) to live up to its claimed title. This combination should see lightning-fast processing coupled with better thermal management so that a great balance of performance and battery life is achieved.

Other features include Alienware's BinaryGFX technology, which allows heavy-duty users to switch between the integrated and high-performance graphics cards and Smart Bay technology for customisation including hot-swap optical drive, second hard drive and backup battery.

Underpinning this all is up to 4GB of RAM and a choice of 200GB or 300GB hard drive or 64GB solid state drive. There are also options of up to 7.1 digital high definition audio, beyond 1080p high definition resolution support and a Dual Layer 2x Blu-Ray/DVD±R/W/CD-RW Burner optical drive.

All that power doesn't come cheap. The basic configuration with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor starts at £1,543.
