In my bookmarks folder, I have a whole list filed under 'lunch'. This is where I go, when I've got a nice bowl of pasta and a full hour of not answering the phone or talking to anyone. In time, I'm hoping that you guys will send in your stuff, but if you're feeling shy, I'm going to make all at Shiny Towers share theirs, in an effort to show you the benefits (strong teeth, healthy bones, glossy coat...). If you're itching to get involved, email your list and reasons here.
Here are my Top Ten favourite wastes of time...
1. XCKD
Comics are brilliant, and this one is my favourite. Full of geeky thoughts, like the bit of your brain that is always occupied in designing the ultimate treehouse.
2. Perez Hilton
My personal hit of celeb-flavoured crack. I'm not sure if it's the white photo annotating, or the fact that he actually gets celebs texting him their own version of events, but I *love* him.
3. Jonathan Cainer
I don't believe in fate, and I'm not a fan of all that spiritual stuff, but if I did, I would totally listen to Jonathan Cainer. For some reason, I can't start my day until I find out what Leos are supposed to be doing with their day.
4. Facebook
Obv...
5. Twitter
As I said, I've fallen back in love with it, although now I use it as both a nosiness tool and a life organisational thingy.
6. Gaping Void
More cartoons, this time in an abstract, Web 2.0 start-up stylee. It's useful to stop people taking themselves so seriously sometimes.
7. Dooce
I'm not sure what it is that makes me want to follow Heather Armstrong's life so closely. I'm neither American, married or a mother, but she writes a great blog. It gives me a taste of the three categories, without having to change nationalities, get engaged or pregnant.
8. Londonist
I'm a massive London geek, and whilst I don't necessarily take advantage of living here as much as I should, it's nice to read about all the things I could be doing.
9. Dollymix
It's hard to pick just one Shiny blog out of our marvellous stable of wonderful things, but Dollymix is a great place to get updated on the latest in celebs, stupid ad campaigns and what the papers are saying, all with a wry smile.
10. Vox
Vox is my personal blogging platform of choice, and I've got a nice little community of virtual friends I can drop by for an update on. Again, it's this thing of keeping updated on people's lives when you've never actually met them, but I find Vox nice and personal.
