I raved about the Tria last week, as the first home DIY laser hair removal system that ACTUALLY works. We're talking, like, forever! Watch me test it out and see what you think.

I've always wondered what laser hair removal might do to the sensitivity of the skin. If it's killing hair follicles (doesn't it? I'm not sure) is it killing sensation in the skin as well? What have you noticed?
I'm dying to hear an update on this. You promised one! Did it work?
Hi Zara! Does it work? Have you noticed a difference?
Hi I bought the tria laser last month & last tried it two weeks ago. I have noticed a slight difference because the hair is coming back in patches and lighter after being shaved. But I have been waxing for the past three years so it might be lighter because of that reason. Anyway I do think its worth it because it I had lots of hair to start with when I shaved & fewer hair have come back compared to when I used to shave which is a long time ago. It is very expensive as it cost me £695 but you can return it within 30 days if you find it very painful.
Zara is right when I was using tria, I didn't feel much pain, the most your going to feel is a rubber band hitting your skin but I did notice the area with more hair under my skin & where I didn't shave properly hurt me the most so make sure you leave no hair when shaving. I'm also slightly worried about pigmentation because I have noticed a very slight difference with my skin tone but that may be because I have shaved & the hair showing under my skin is dark so it makes my skin look darker. Another reason may be that my complexion is light brown but I can't really say much yet because I've only just started using tria.
I will keep you guys posted and if you want to ask me any questions please do.
I got one 3 weeks ago and it seems to be working for me. I have got dark hair and pale skin - so perfect. The guide tells you to shave before using so as to reduce any pain. I got it online at http://www.faceandbodyltd.co.uk which was about £70 cheaper
hi all, can u plz keep us updated?? cause Im considering bying one
How's it going girls?!?
WOW IT REALLY WORKS!
Hi Emma,
I just wonder how the Tria laser going on? I am about to buy it so want to make sure it is worth it! I heard the Rio laser (from Argos) does not work, so let`s hope with TRIA.
Can you please let us know????
Thanks for your time,
Eva
Hi Eva
Yeah it does work but it's also painful. Have you got one?
For anyone who's interested...
I got the Tria and paid £650 and I am not happy at all.
I charged it for over 2 hours (as instructed, and during this time it makes a noise- the fan comes on - the quiet charging mode takes 8 hours!)
When I used it the thing only lasted for 29 minutes!
I left it for then as I was just testing it out and the next day I charged it for over 2 hours again and decided to go as fast as I could possibly go.
It lasted 21 minutes!!! then it shut off and would not go back on. I find this absolutely ridiculous for the price. How are you supposed to get everything done when you need to stop and charge it every 20 minutes?
Also the machine only lasts for 250 charges. With the charge holding that long the machine will soon be no good. I only got a little patch of leg done. (About 1/4 of a leg, below the knee,) I also missed loads of bits as I was doing it as fast as I could to time it. I only did one area of skin once.
BUT the instructions say to go over each area about 8 TIMES!!! Yes that's right. In a 3cm by 3cm section of skin you are supposed to flash over it hundreds of times.
I'll update people when I see how it does with the hair growing back but IMO only get this if you have a lot of money, and only need to do a small area like bits on your face.
I also want to add I am not convinced about their "survey". They only tested it on about 80 people and there is no detail of the survey provided with the item (or online). The last time they checked on the hairgrowth was after 3 months, which is nothing. They should have done AT LEAST 6 months. A year would be better.
In fact, you should still be doing laser hair removal after 3 months. Their line about it being "proven" should not be believed. They have not proven anything.
NOTE:
If you want to get ONE LEG, ONLY BELOW THE KNEE, done... it will take...
about 3 or 4 hours actually using the machine
and it will need to be charged 4 times (at least 2 hours for each charge)
so a total of 8 hours charging.
(I don't know how many times in a row it can be charged, i'm going to email the company to ask because the machine gets quite hot.)
So, 11 or 12 hours to do the bottom of 1 leg, which means approx 24 hours (A WHOLE DAY) to do the bottom of your legs properly.
(the size of the treatment area is about the size of a pinky fingernail, but circular - in fact it's smaller than my pinky nail)
IMO just go to a salon. They can do it within 30 minutes.
Hey Jodie
Would be great if you could let us know what the company's answer was ..
I'd really like to buy a Tria, but with the long charging and all it doesn't sound very convincing :(
Where to buy it ??
Laura,
I think you are being a bit negative about Tria.
I bougt mine 5 weeks ago with 2 other friends and we are all absolutely chuffed with it.
Yes it does only last 250 "zaps" but I find I can do my underarms completely with it and then charge it once more to do my bikini line. Legs are a big area to do so you've got to expect them to take a bit longer.
After all the salon might take 30 minutes but charge 5 times the amount!
I think the booklet says the machine will work for at least 250 charges too, but hopefully more.
I've used it twice and have hardly any hair left on my underarms and my bikini line is much much thinner. It did hurt alot but I was using i on the highest setting. But I do think the pain is worth it, it hurts less now, after alot of the hairs have gone.
Admittedly I don't know how long it will last but for the moment I am very very happy.
I don't have to even shave every day whereas before I was having shave twice a day and still left with stubbly armpits!
Woo hoo for a hair free summer
Hi,
Has anyone used the Tria for facial hair yet? I have pretty course hair on chin and am very tempted to try the Tria as everything else is so temporary. Any advice gratefully accepted!
Hi All, I have just bought the Tria and would like to know do you HAVE to shave before using it? I wanted to use it on my chin but don't like the thought of shaving it before hand. Any comments?
Hey all, me again
So here's my review of the TRIA: it's working really well! I have dark thick hair, so it stings quite a bit, but in the areas I treated no hair is growing back (for now at least ;)
It's kind of hard to catch them all at once, I'll have to go over my legs again. The results are exactly like I had them after salon laser treatments: after two weeks I could pluck the hair out very easily and painlessly, some of them fell out by themselves.
Also, I didn't need to charge the tria as often as I thought, I was able do my lower leg in one go at the highest setting.
I'm very happy with the results :-))
Hi Karen
Hopefully you will catch this.
I have had an ongoing battle with facial hair for over 15 years. I had about 4 or 5 years of electrolysis but have done nothing but trim it with scissors the last 6 years.
I got my Tria in mid June and used it the second time at the end of June and third treatment last week. I am really pleased with the results. There seems to be about a 80% reduction in the number of hairs and the hairs that remain appear much softer and lighter. I finally feel like I am winning the battle.
My skin is fair but I do tan. I have been treating chin, 'sideburns', under the chin and the upper lip and the charge only ran out as I was finishing the second treatment.
I found it value for money. I would have been charged for two facial areas if I had gone to a professional salon and it saved me a lot of time and not many salons are open at 10 at night :-)
Maybe those that are struggling with larger areas /recharge time might want to factor in the convenience of being able to do this in your own home and the amount of time you would spend travelling to and from your nearest reputable salon.
Hi Moira,
Thanks so much for your post - sounds like we are both battling with the same problem! I`ve just started electrolysis but sceptical about the results. From what you`ve said, think I`m going to go for the Tria in the hope it helps!
Moira, forgot to ask you in my last post, are you shaving the area before you treat it with Tria, or are you just clipping as short as possible with scissors?
Thanks
Hi there after much consideration about the tria i am still unsure as wanting to use it all over the body, face, legs, arms, back, bikini, but the charging time issue seems a problem
also as i am half indian, but stil light skinned, when i shave/wax/epilate i have permenant sort of dots all over my legs, so even when smooth my legs look sort of stubbley still, if this makes any sense?!
have people noticed a reduction in this after using tria, if they even had it in the first place that is.
Thanx again
Tria for men: any thoughts? Sick and tired of my jet black hair on my chest. abdomen and back. Went to salon today and did a patch test. The facilitator offered me a session of 6 treatments fo back, chest and abdomen for 2100 Euro. Seems likea good deal. Am i better off buying the Tria which is roughly 850 Euro??? Is my area too big to treat??? I have pale skin, black hair; am 5 foot 7 or 177 cm and weigh 72 kilos. My salon needs an answer by tuesday ... any thoughts????
So what happens after the 250 treatments? Is the entire device just done and trash? Or is there a way to send it in and "re-new" it? I was ready to buy until I saw this flaw.....
This thing is just a toy like the Rio Salon Laser. Get some treatment with a Lightsheer Laser at a doctor - it gets cheaper every day and is absolutely worth the money!
Hi
I've been looking into laser hair removal for my under arms, chin and upper lips. I'm remarkably pale with pitch black hair, so for once this seems like it will work in my favour!!
I'm very interested in the TRIA, and it works out at about the cost of having my underarms done professionally so if i bought one and it worked it would effectively be like getting my face done for free!
However -
1) will I have to trim or shave the hair on my face?
2) What happens to it if it 'dies' after 250 charges?
3) What are the long term results like (will I need to use it again every year or so, like I was advised I'd need with salon laser treatment)
hello, has anyone used the tria over freckles, and does it make them lighter?
ok i dont have one but i am considering it... but it just seems that some people are expecting too much.... todo my full legs at a salon with discount isgonna cost me £1200 for 6 treatments... if it truly works, surely £630 is cheap even if itonly lasts for the legs... however i doubt the legs are goingto use up 250 trys... theres only so much hair u can get rid of. lol..
OVER USE - EXAMPLE:
if doing the two legs in one treatment takes up 15 charges , the 6 treatments work out to be 120 charges .... that still leaves more than half
according to this forum in one charge you can do your upper lip, side burns, jaw and underarms... so even if you did ten treatments that still leaves you with 120 charges
so the bikini and stomach takes another 10 charges (even though both can be done in one charge) you still have 110 charges ....
if you want to do your arms and each arm takes 1 charge and you need 6 treatments thats still only 12 charges ... still leaving you with 98 charges!!!
Now if it does what it says...and removes the hair for a long time.... even if you had to buy a new one every 5-10 years.... it still works out amazingly cheaper!!!
250 charges are more than enough.... in less your actually a werewolf!!!
now i am hoping that it does work and i feel better about paying £650 for it then handing double that to a salon for them to only do one area....
Anyone wth a real success story or if you are willing to post before and after photos it would really be appreciated . i have PCO syndrome which causes me to be VERY HAIRY!!!
i just got my tria!! I did both arms, bikini line and small area on stomach in 1 charge on lever 3!! it goes very face once you get the hang of it.
There's a *brand-new* TRIA going on eBay for half of the retail price. The ebay number is 190253910132, just search "190253910132" in the Ebay search field and it comes up. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal!
Is this device rendered useless after 250 charges, and have to be thrown away, Or can you use it for more. I have pcos and just wonder if it will work for me on my face. I dont need to use it anywhere else just the face, so would it be worth buying? And one who can help answer would be much appreciated.
Thanks
I would stay clear of the one on ebay. the stay it will onlychange 250 times. Who ever is selling it has activated it, so they could have used it for months
I agree with Jamie, this Tria on Ebay could already have been used 249 charges. There's no way of knowing, and I can't believe it has 14 bids, up to $900 already. It's only $1000 new! People please don't waste your money just get it from Triabeauty.com.
I bought mine a few months ago completely afraid it wouldn't work but it's not bad. I've done 2 treatments on my bikini line and underarms so far and each treatment of the bikini line and underarms only took one charge... so thus far I've only used 2 of the 250 charges and I've already seen some results.
The device lasts plenty long to treat every part of your body a million times, but think about it... If it lasted forever then I would use it, give it to my sister, she would give it to her friend, then to her friend and so on... Tria would lose lots of customers and tons of people would have smooth skin.
I have been so far completely satisfied and some people say that they need a longer study to see if the hair stays away after a year or 2... well, laser hair removal from a salon (that costs way more) is not "permanent" either. People say a few hairs still manage to grow back here and there.
My only complaint is I think it's quite painful, but I am not pain tolerant at all and when I get a tummy ache everyone knows and I whine. But I still do the treatments on high because I want the best results and not to waste my time... I just have to hold my breath =)
I guess the main point is yes, I would recommend it to anyone and that I completely enjoy it so far
Hayley, I also have PCOS. I have used my tria twice!!!love it. I have used it on my face(chin, neck, sideburns, upper lip) Wow, i am so happy with the results so far. I think about afterthe week after first useing it, the hair on my chin and neck starting falling out. It tried to pluck one or two hairs and they just slide out!! I would recommend it to anyone!
Hi there
Thanks for everyone who commented it really did help reading all your words..
I was thinking of buying one ,using it all over me then inherit it to my two girls, till i saw your comment about the 250 charges, copletely put me off, and i am back to square one again,
why don't they do it with an electric cord ?
My TRIA arrived today - only done the test patch so far. No feeling on low, slight warmth on medium and small hot pin prick on high, not exactly pleasant on bikini line but nothing I can't handle. I normally wax myself but this does need a few glasses of wine to make it just about bearable. I really understand the dilema of whether to buy this or not, its a huge amount of money so I promise to keep you posted on how it goes, fingers crossed.
Hi there! I'm seriously considering buying Tria and your coments are really helpfull! I only wonder did anyone use it to treat a whole bikini area? Or is there anything in the manual about it! I would really appriciate any info on that! Thank you!
i m a 23 year old pale skinned man with thick black hair all over my body.
is tria right for me?
please answer
thanks
Hi! For those using tria on the face - can you please advise if you HAVE to shave the area first? im really uncomfortable doing so and happy to put up with a bit of pain if it means not having to shave my chin etc. Please let me know as im hoping to buy it soon!
thanks
Hi,
Found this web site giving reports on TRIA - thought it may be of interest.
http://hairremoval.about.com/od/laser/a/tria-laserhair.htm
Also, please can we have updated reports from anyone that`s been using the Tria for a few months - do the results last!
Thanks
I brought my Tria in April after much agonising over the price. I decided to give it a go as i was becoming embarassed over the amount of dark hair sprouting out of my chin and neck. I have tried salon treatment but it began to grow back after having my daughter. I found shaving my chin before the salon treatment distressing to say the least. Well the beauty of having the Tria at home is that you can zap each hair as soon as it comes through the skin so you don't have to wait for a large patch to appear. No more travelling by train to a salon which was a hassle as i live in the country. I was not aware this has a limited shelf life but i have only charged mine twice so far and i have been hair free for weeks now. I love this machine and would highly recommend it.
I am a 34 year old male. Have had 9 sessions of laser in Barnstaple on my face - still got hair (but much thinner), so am disappointed. Also had 6 sessions at Bristol on my whole legs - they are completely clear now.
The only problem with a clinic is the cost. So I decided to get a Tria, which arrived today.
I do not find it easy to use. Tried it on the worst part of my chin. Think it buzzed more often than beeping. Maybe I just need practise. I write this an hour after use. My chin is red and sore which is a good sign.
Also tried it on my left arm (much easier to use here as there is more flat area to rest on).
Tried a few spots on my tummy - that is painful on level 3, so best to use level 2 there!
Also tried a small area on the left side of my chest. Level 3 is slightly painful, but bearable.
I am using the Tria on various parts of my body, as when I have had enough of the pain, I move on to other areas.
The most annoying part is when the fan comes on. I know it is designed to cool the device down, but why is it so noisy? So much so that I find it difficult to concentrate.
I will let you know in a couple of weeks how it goes.
I will persevere, because it is embarassing having so much hair.
Jamie, Are you in the UK? The Tria site for the US says not to use it on the face. I emailed Tria about this and they said that they hope to have it approved to use on the face. Just wondering if the UK has a different version or is the US being overly cautious.
Angie,
I am in the UK, where the instructions advise not to use it on the face.
However, I have already been to a clinic, so my facial hair is thin.
I don't see any prooblems, provided you dont go too close to your eyes.
If you are worried, the best thing to do is to close your eyes and move the Tria by feel. Or you could get some goggles.
I think Tria is trying to protect themselves more than the user.
finally people are writing about Tria. I have to use my again. the first time I was too nervous
I have had Tria for 3 months now and I haven't seen any positive effects. I have dark hair and have used it regularly in various places on my face and body but no improvement! For those of you who have found it has worked, how often are you using it?
I agree with David H...the fan is so noisy - even when it's on charge! The shelf life is pretty short - I'll do most my lower leg on the max setting (3) and then the battery cuts out!
So if you use it and like 6-10 times will the hair just be gone for a year or forever..
i know with professional laser some hairs can re-appear but thats only a few new ones.. will the hair completely grow back with this?? after a year or something?
because i looked into another home laser and after a lot of research discovered it just caused very slow regrowth- up to 6 months, but then it does grow back.
When might this come to australia?
Thanks!!
I have mixed reactions with Tria.
It is now two weeks since first using the device.
There is a small area on my chin that has gone patchy.
It is not easy to use at all. All 3 contact points must be touching the skin - the slightest movement will make the device buzz, and therefore is not offering treatment.
I estimate that on average it beeps (signifying that Tria is in the correct position) about 10% of the time. This means that most of the time I am wasting the battery's life.
It is frustrating, so a high level of patience is needed. I would rather use a laser with goggles.
It is going to take a very long time to clear my face if at all.
I am even considering going back to my professional clinic (a whole face would take about 15 minutes per session - instead of what 15 years?!!).
can't i use tria while its being charged??
Marin - no you can't use Tria whilst it is charging
HTH
Thanks for these really useful comments. For £700, I think I'll spend an extra £200 and have it done in a clinic (Skn often has 20% off).
V interesting about the battery life.
thanks everi one for their comments. well i am gettin mixed reaction here some people are seams to like the results where as some dont like it.
i am thinking of buying Tria aswell cz its gone a little bit cheaper then b4 but i'm not hundred percent sure cz i dont want to just check hundreds of pounds on something which is not worth buying. so anyone out there has a suggestion, is Tria worth buying?
A question to anyone who might know:
I understood from comments here that there's a limited amount of times you can charge the device, being 250 times.
I'm pondering whether it is possible, with only basic knowledge in electronics, to rig up something that will allow you to use the laser more than 250 charges, like change a battery, or rig a different power source. I mean, is it the ever decreasing capacity of the battery the source of this limitation, or something that has to do with the laser diode (they tend to burn out sometimes)?
I would be really glad if anyone might have an answer or a theory.
Ok so i have mixed reactions now i have just read these comments.
I first heard about the Tria when i was at a salon having my chin and upper lip zapped which i payed £600 for 10 treatments.
Now the hair is begining to grow back....
So im looking into the Tria now. The girl at the salon told me about Tria explaining of course its not as good as the machines they use, but it does work. I was extremley happy when she recommended it. But now finding out it only lasts 250 charges, does put me off it slightly. As my daughter wants to use it too. Plus i was going to buy from ebay, as they are around £250 cheaper. Whcih does not seem a lot, but when you think it is!
I have emailed tria to ask if there is something like a replacement battery that you can buy once it "dies" but no reply as of yet.
Is it really worth it!!!
Hi Everyone,
I am a Physician Assistant and have worked in the fields of Dermatology and Plastic Surgery for eight years, that includes eight years of treating people with lasers for hair removal. I tell all of my patients that it usually takes 8 - 10 sessions with our office laser to get about 80 -90 % reduction of hair. This means of the hair treated 80-90% should be permanently gone. Will you grow new hair that wasn't treated? It is possible, depending on a large variety of circumstances. We have recently added the Tria to our practice and now sell the device as well as continue to perform in office LHR treatments. I have been very impressed with the Tria, it gives in office energy levels in the comfort of your home. Great for moms who don't have time to get in or frequent travelers. It will likely take a few more treatments than in office LHR but the results appear to be exactly the same. I have read multiple complaints about only 250 charges, but think about this... charge it up two nights a week, treat a body part each time. One night, left underarm, next night right underarm. The next week bikini line and your left lower leg and so on... you will have enough charges to get you through over two years worth of treatments at a two night per week rate. That is really great, you should be hair free in way under 250 charges. Now if you are really hairy or are trying to treat large body areas like entire legs or your back, I would usually recommend at least starting with in office LHR for the reason that it would save you time. For those of you who don't like how slow it is, go to a derm office. Just remember it is amazing that we now have this technology to bring into our homes and be happy about it. Please feel free to respond to this comment. You can also call our derm office and skin care store ..ADAS and Skin Solutions MD at 904-285-5880 if you have any other questions. I hope this helped all of you who are on the quest to become hair free. By the way....I have used over 15 lasers in the last eight years and lasers for hair removal will always be my favorite!!!
ok so last comment is suggesting that Tria does work, that answered one of my questions now i have one more question. is tria as effective on men body as it is on women? because i am a male thinking of buying this product so i will really appreciate any recommendation or help
thanks
Absolutely, hair on women is the same as hair on men, any laser hair removal machine will work on any type of hair as long as it is not blonde or gray.
Hi Rachel (from the skin clinic),
Can you tell us if you've used the Tria on clients with facial hair? If so, what were the results?
hi i have tried the no no hair removal system and it didnt get me results. i m talking not at all!! anyways...i am wondering now about the tria before i decide to drop that kinda of cash and i obviously want to have all info upfront. i spent 200 on no no and it was nothing more than a gimmick. i am most concerned with using it on lower face and neck area. for those of you who dont need to u r blessed. i would love to just think of it in other parts of the body. i just want to be able to go out with my hair off my face and feel good with no worries. to think of using it on other body parts would be a treat though. now im wondering if anyone has experienced hairs that weren't dark and coarse to begin with becoming so after using the tria. i know that if can be something that happens with other lasers. so just wondering. if anyone has direct experience with black facial hair do share your results and info please. i am either doing this or electrolysis. either way im praying along the way. Thanks best of luck to you all~
The Tria is not supposed to be used on the face... that being said if your hair is dark and your skin is light the Tria will work. There are some studies that have shown that women of Mediterranean descent can have increased hair growth as a result of laser hair removal, this is something that can happen but in my experience rarely does.
Laser hair removal treatment is the best treatment to get rid of unwanted hair. And laser hair removal cost is also affordable. Other hair removal methods are painful but laser provides pain less solution from unwanted hair.

hi everybody this gadget please try to avoid to buy from ebay as there are lots of duplicate items and its will be not fda approved as i experienced it. reagading the hair growth comparing women and mens it cant be same so if some one saying its same dont belive as the men harmone allows to grow the hair more frequently then womens and womens harmones tries to supresses hair growth please try to avoid fake comments over hear and go to a proper skin specialist for the guidance thank you
who ever has used Tria or laser hair removal b4 this question is for them.
Do the hair(s) that grow back after the treatment be light or invisible or do they still be same as b4?
cz i read that alot of people are talking about if the laser hair removal treatment is working or not but no one is sayin much about the hair's which grow back
TRIA....
Rachel Garcias' information is wrong, Tria is allowed to be used on the face area, just not anywhere above your nose (if u create an imaginary line horizontally across your face, you should not go above this). This is documented in my Tria manual. I find Tria is fantastic and I have not been to my IPL salon since August..
Hi, only to anyone with Very Dark Thick hair!! I highly recommend a course of laser hair removal !! I had a course of 6 treatments at the SKIN laser clinic (look on the net for your nearest one, there 1 of the best laser clinics) over a year ago and the results have been absolutely amazing !! they can be V pricey, but well worth every saved penny if you've suffered like I have!! changed my life, really !! 70% of the hair has gone! yey! apart from some stubborn hair, most of the hair that has grown back, is much much finer, lighter and easier to manage !! I also have a tria, which I have seen good results with!!
Try Silk'n - you can buy replacement cartridges for it.
I feel inclined to jump in here. I have lighter skin and very dark hair, and about 10 years ago, I started getting a lot of hair on my chin. I also had really bad 5 o'clock shadow on my armpits in the early afternoon, so wearing tank tops was embarrassing. And, I have lighter/medium brown fine hair on my belly, lower back. Not to mention sprouting hair around the nipples. Very embarrassing. About 8 years ago, I had some extra money and went to a doctor's office for hair removal. The nurse practictioner told me that she would sell me so many laser zaps for $1000 to make it cheaper for me to get a lot of areas done. She also told me that after 6 times, she would reduce the price by half. So, I got my upper lip, chin, nipples, underarms, bikini (sometimes full Brazilian, but mostly just Playboy style), lower back, full stomach and up the Happy Trail in the front. I also had my arms done once. I went about 6 times total, and then I lost a job and ran out of money. My results -- the chin area was great -- I just had random sprouts after that -- made it easier to pluck. Nipples and upper lip -- still grew fine hair that needed to be addressed -- so, the results were about 50% reduction or so with hair coming in a bit lighter and finer. Same result on lower back and stomach and happy trails with the fine hairs. But, the dark thick hairs on Happy Trail almost all gone -- just the occasional sprout. My armpits -- about 80% reduction. I only had to shave about 3 or 4 times a week (which was a huge shock for me). The bikini line -- I'd say about 60% reduction. She said I was growing multiple hairs out of the follicle. Then, about 3 years later -- I still had pretty good results that stayed, but I wanted to get my bikini line, chin, upper lip, and nipples done some more, and there were the Laser removal places at the mall. I think I got a package deal of 6 treatments for about $1000 or $1500. I went for about 5 of the treatments, and the initial results are always great -- but I felt the laser they used was not as effective as the first place. I would say that I had about 20 to 30% total reduction of the hairs that were left -- which still left me some hair in place. So, now, it is about 5 years after that, and my armpit hair is thicker, chin is growing in again (not as bad, but hair is growing). Hair is still fine in the fine areas, like upper lip, lower back, etc. So, I am thinking that the Tria will probably be perfect for the smaller areas, and nice to have for hair on the legs. I will say that my arms are the most tan spot on the body, and it hurt a lot when I had hair removed. I still have a couple of white spots in the tan because it did zap the pigment in my skin. I would say that the hair amount was reduced. So, my humble opinion for me -- I don't know that one can ever get to 100% hair removal -- but I would rather just pluck a sprout now and then or have really fine hair then I have a big, thick bushy mess. I understand this hurts (it was intolerable to do large areas in the doctor's office without Emla), so I bought some of the skin numbing stuff for tattoos from Ebay (don't recall what it is called). I will be using a bit of that on the areas I'm going to treat. If anybody sees a great sale, like 20% off or 10% off at a place that also sells the new and improved Tria off of the already reduced $595, please post here :).
Hi,
I've been to a clinic twice in a space of 2 years to have thick and black hair removed by Lightsheer device from my chest and abdominal. Sessions lasted about 1.5 -2 hours and costed £250 each.
Results: about 50 % of hair never came back. The remaining still grow as before although with increased spaces between each other proving to work.
More sessions could probably show better results (am living 200 miles away so it's not that easy and quite expensive)
Tria might be some sort of solution but from all comments read on the net it appears that it's another toy generating profits for greedy companies who base on people's desperation.
- limited life time (over 250 charges): replace head/lamp or whole device = money
- limited battery time: forces to charge over 250 times = device / part replacement = money
- and the well thought through marketing selling line "Permanently reduce hair" = no guarantee about % nor if it'll work at all
+ they give 30 days guarantee money back
- in manual to see results you need to complete 6 - 8 treatments which exceed the 30 days trial so in fact it's a boll**ks
The above is typical to "make sure your device stops working to get more money out of you".
They basically manufacture it in a way most devices are these days i.e. make sure it works for a limited period of time by making certain elements to wore out or finish or break completely after warranty expires to sustain company's existence on the market. Yeah, welcome to today's marketing - always make sure you generate revenue. I have been very close to marketing and absolutely hate, hate and hate it! It's no longer a good guy who invented something cool for other people and sales his product genuinely believing it will work for years - it's the opposite. Buy someone's idea / project and make as much money out of it as possible. Cars is the best example - they used to be made from solid elements and drive for 25 years. Nowadays are made cheap, plastic, full of electronics to make sure you cannot fix it yourself and fork our cash each time you visit dealer / service. They put you in a waiting room with coffee so to make sure you are not looking at someone's hands and believe they are doing miracles)
Of course there are some genuine companies out there but it's a fraction and significantly decreasing...
Sorry about my rant but don't let them fool ya!
Fortunately, we have forums and independent sites where genuine opinions can be left.
Best, David S
I got the Tria for my chin hairs, yes i know it says not on face but look at the tria commercial for instruction in uk they show someone using it on upper lip! anyway, did the 24 hour test thing, it's fine.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__O41Uf9xtI (this is the first model, the second one has 5 settings but still three lights).
pain...so many people complaining about it being painful, let me help people understand ... for me on the highest (5th setting of the new model)
1. it is not as painful as getting a tattoo
2. if you can pour a little hot wax on your skin - it's kind of same heat feeling as that except it's just for a split second.
3. in my opinion, it's much LESS painful than waxing.
ok all, hope my review helps, since i just started using it i can't say much more at this time for results. fingers crossed!

Tria does work very well. I've been using Tria on and off for six months. I started off with very hairy arms. All the thick hairs have dissapeared and I'm left with pathches where only fine hair grows. I'm very pleased with the results. I am India with wheatish skin with dark black hair. I'll be doing my legs next but I'm too afraid to try it on my face. I would love to go to a Tria approved clinic where I can have laser done on my face by a professional.
there is a website with a Hon Kong address (http://www.lasertria.com/TRIA-Laser/buytria.htm) where the tria only costs USD545 which is a LOT cheaper that I have found anywhere else. Has anyone bought from anywhere other than a US website?
PS laser treatment in a salon does hurt and does cost a lot more than this appears to, so I'm prepared to give it a go!
Considering buying the Tria from the Hong Kong based company. I too wonder -just like KP above - if it is wise to order it through them. They answered my email saying that payment must be made in advance and not upon delivery, as I had hoped. They wrote that making my payment through PayPal is a safe way since I could receive a refund from PayPal if the Tria is never delivered to me.
What do you suggest? Is it safe to order it from www.lasertria.com ?
KP, please post an update if you purchase the Tria from this company. Curious if the final cost is only 545 USD and above all, if you actually received the product.
hey
i ordered from this site since I live in Canada and the ship worlwide, and yep, its 545$ but you dont receive the skin sensor!
enjoy having free hair girls!
and yes I received my order! the device works with 100-240V so its pretty suitable everywhere
Thanks for the update Sarah.
But you didn't receive the skin sensor??!! Why? Isn't so that the skin sensor "unlocks" the Tria before each use? Can ýou still use the Tria without it?
Philips is currently releasing the "LUMEA sc2001". Any reviews anyone out there?

Is there anyone who can tell me if is possible to use TRIA for nipples area??
Maybe somebody who has the manual... cause I've sent an e-mail to TRIA asking it, but they don't reply.
Thanks!
Be aware that the "TRIA" sold from Hong Kong (also most or all of the "new TRIA" units on Ebay) is not genuine. Not tested, not approved by FDA, not authorized in any way. They copied our logos and trademarks, which confuses people. We tested a fake "Tria" which had low output power (less effective) and was also cheaply made, its durability and utility is open to question. You can obtain the genuine Tria from Triabeauty.com but if you get one off ebay or the HK site, you may get less than you pay for.
>Is there anyone who can tell me if is possible to use TRIA for nipples area??
The USA manual at least says no. The laser light is absorbed by all dark areas, including dark hair, dark skin, tattoos, etc. Usually the nipple area is darker than the rest of the skin, also more pain-sensitive!
Hi John,
Are you an employee at Tria? If the ones on eBay are knock-offs, why havn't you guys taken any actions yet? It's been more than a year since those sellers are selling cheaper Trias on eBay. How come they havn't been reported?
Yeah, I totally agree with Jane, I'm considering buying Tria from ebay buy it's so cheap and the description is doubtful. If anyone thinking abt buying on ebay just take a look, they said that it has 5 settings but the 5 setting model is 2010 new and it has different box. However, the products sold on ebay use the old paper box and do not have skin sensor. If anyone has find out it's fake, why doesn't him report it to ebay and stop this?
Tria can't be held responsible for the knock-offs on ebay. If you are paying less than $595 for a Tria, you are getting scammed. If you are paying $595 for a Tria, then why not just buy it from Tria or at an authorized Tria retailer?
Now, if you 100% trust someone that they only used their Tria for so many uses and would sell it to you for a good buy, that's a different story. Be very careful because you have no way of gauging how many uses it went through. (Tria is only good for 250-300 charges.)
But sadly Tria is not avaiable in all country, I do not live in US or UK so the only way to buy it is on ebay. And you know, there is not much choice to make here
Try Neiman Marcus catalog. They deliver internationally.
...and come back to let us know if you were satisfied or if there were any complications with the delivery.

We are now supplying the TRIA hair removal at wholesales price with big discount.

Now we supply it at 539 USD with free shipping & one year-warranty.

>why haven't you guys taken any actions yet? ...how come they haven't been reported?
I'm not authorized to speak for TRIA, but I presume they are taking appropriate steps. There will always be "bargains" and "discounts" advertised but it's always the same story: buyer beware. If you do not buy from an authorized site, then you do not know what you are getting.
Hi there,
I'm looking to buy a home laser hair removal device like tria, I've recently seen the new philips lumea advertised, wondering if anyone has any experience using it ? Its pretty new so havn't yet seen any comparisons online between lumea and tria.

If anyone has any insights would be interested in hearing from you,
Cheers,

I bought this 10 days ago, I wanted to treat bikini line and chin and upper lip. Possibly this may actually be doing something, I will keep updating. I very wary of it at first and treated on setting 3. After 5 days there seemed to be no improvement so I zapped on high, (5) I now think I'm getting some shedding and the stubble seems less or I did a good job shaving this morning. I plan to do another treatment to catch the next growth cycle which I will do on level 5, no messing this time. Then I'll stick to the twice a month regime and then once per month. Fingers crossed we'll see.

Hey everyone, I just got the Tria hair removal system today and I so hope it works for me. I bought if for my facial areas bacause I A LOT of hair there. I have polycyctic ovarian disease and that makes me have more hair then the normal person. I am very light skinned and have really dark hair, thanks to the german side of me. Also during my pregnancies I got alot of hair on my chest and stomach. I feel I am hairier them my husbands sometimes. Wish me luck and I hope it works. I can not afford to have it done professionally. Will give an update in a few weeks.
How is everyone on this site using Tria on their face? The Tria Beauty website clearly says that the Tria is not approved for the face and breasts.
I called the company and they said it was because the texture of the skin on our face, neck, and breasts is different than everywhere else, so there's a higher chance of blisters/burns/scarring.
How is it that this machine (a gift from Aphrodite herself) cannot be used exactly where I wanna use it: my face! ARGH! Does anyone have any more experiences about using it on their face? Good/bad?
The UK version is definitely allowed on the face but states it must be below the cheekbones. It even says it in the manual it can be used on a woman's top lip. I was surprised as the reviews I read said it wasn't approved for the face. However, it appears that's only the US.
Angelina -
I'm in SoCal, have had my Tria for about 2 years, and do use it on my face. Like others here have said, I don't use it above the nose, but have used it on upper lip, chin, and sideburns (below cheekbones). I have pale skin and dark hair.
I haven't had any problems, and it works well. The one bit of advice I would give is to make very sure you don't zap your lips, as a burn or scar there could be very bad. I always curl my lips in so no lip tissue is exposed before I zap.
In general, the Tria works as well or better than electrolysis on my face without the redness and swelling right after.

For anyone still reading this.. this is my fourth or fifth treatment ( I got it in May and it is now the end of June) and no hair grew back on my mustache, none grew back on my bikini line..my armpits are giving me a hard time because I cant go past level 3 without dying of pain..but for only using level 2 / 3 I have about 50% regrowth. This machine is AMAZING and worth every penny!! if you have annoying hair growth this is the best solution outside of professional hair removal, imo.
I got the Tria in March and have used it primarily on my chin and upper lip. Because I am outside a lot and now am tan everywhere else, I haven't gotten had a chance to try many other places. I will focus everywhere else in the fall/winter...
One thing I have found is that the best place with the best lighting is outside! I go sit on my deck with a mirror and that is where I notice and I can target those pesky dark hairs that don't show up inside in normal lighting. I bring a razor, shave off the hair and then give it a good zap or two!! I do make sure I am hidden from my neigbors while I do this : )
But, I am having good results on my chin. I usually get acne because of my hair follicles getting inflamed on my face, but I can say that the reduction in hair is causing me to break out less. Yay!
My guess for the lack of approval on the face in the US has to do with protection of eyes, when it is done in a med clinic, eye protection is worn. But I am careful to place the unit without staring at the laser pulse. Plus it doesn't go off unless all edges make contact with the skin.
I have had no problems, I use the #5 setting and I find that it is the easiest part of my body to treat because it is relatively small. And it is the most satisfying to get rid of my lady beard!

Hi Susie,
I am wanting to get the Tri Beauty Laser for my upper lip. I just wanted to know will it get rid of the hair permanently or just minimize the hair growth there? I just don't want to waste my money, please help. Thank you.
Katie,
I also have polycyctic ovarian disease and have been trying to get rid of this awful facial hair (and i feel you on the sometimes we feel much hairier than our husband) I would love to here your update. as i feel i can really use your results to make my decision on buying Tria.
I have PCOS and have been stuggling with bad facial hair that started around when I was 20 and has gotten gradually worse (I'm now 30). I used to pluck, then went to shaving. I got laser done on my face and got about 8 treatments. I maybe got a 25-50% reduction and it was all back in a year. I also tried electrolysis for almost a year but finally decided they were not treating it properly and only plucking. I have considered trying the Tria and just using it longterm for chronic reduction but I'm afraid it won't even give me that since my hairs are pretty thick and a strong root. Any advice? I have also tried the pill and just started spironolactone.
Sarah,
So I finally decided to give Tria a try. Since I live with PCOS i'll keep you posted on how it works.
Wow I am really shocked that they approved 3rd party browser for iPhone at their store
hey everyone...i saw a dermatologist who recommended Tria on Dr. Oz show....still debating if i should buy it
I've been using mine for 6 weeks - so I've done 3 treatments and think I'm seeing a difference. I think that if you go slowly so the fan doesn't run constantly it stays charged to let you cover more areas between chargings. It's no big deal if you are just watching tv to keep you occupied. I had gotten my underarms lasered professionally and that was great but some sparce hairs grew back so I'm hoping that having this on hand will be useful for touch ups even when the original treatments are done. I'm treating my legs and spots here and there but I'm afraid to use it on my chin - anyone out there had success with the chin?
All the thick hairs have dissapeared and I'm left with pathches where only fine hair grows. I'm very pleased with the results. I am India with wheatish skin with dark black hair. I'll be doing my legs next but I'm too afraid to try it on my face.
More reviews than at Amazon, lol. Here is a guide to sensitive areas that was posted there.
First and foremost: some pain is necessary, but most pain is unnecessary!
Whether or not the TRIA laser is effective depends on several factors—
‣ The colour of the skin and hair, but also...
‣ Depth of the hair follicle from the skin surface.
‣ Size of the follicle.
‣ Width of the hair at the surface.
‣ Number of hairs within the area of the treatment head (hair density).
If enough laser light is delivered to the hair follicle within a small enough amount of time, it will heat up to the point that the hair follicle is destroyed. The two main reasons that this temperature is not reached are the sections of hairs at the surface of the skin heating to the point of causing localized damage, or a general rise in temperature of the entire area of skin being treated to the point that damage results.
The second effect can be mitigated by cooling the skin and continuing to direct laser pulses towards the follicle; but the first, of damage at the surface around hairs, can only be addressed by removing the hairs to prevent them from absorbing laser light at the skin's surface.
According to the instructions epilation should be avoided for 4~6 weeks prior to the first use of TRIA laser. This may be fine for those with the most ideal skin tones, since most of the laser light can reach the follicle and hairs that are slightly visible after shaving help guide where to use the laser. Those who do not have ideal skin tones should consider the following on whether to epilate prior to TRIA laser use:
‣ Is the area of skin being treated darker than other areas of your body?
‣ Do the hairs come straight out, or are they slanted making the roots closer to the skin surface?
‣ How thick are the hairs at this location?
‣ How dense is the hair growth?
All of these combined, on if you should epilate can be answered with one simple result from using the TRIA laser: It hurts!! And what's more, even if you withstand a full treatment of the area, it will have virtually no effect since not enough light is reaching the follicles despite a similar intensity working perfectly fine to remove hair on other areas of your body. This is what tells you of the need to epilate that area for TRIA to work.
My own experience:
Tried TRIA on lowest setting and it hurt so much I waited for a satin smooth res-q pain relief product to arrive.
After an hour with a very generous coat of 4% lidocaine product applied, the area felt somewhat numb and the pain was almost bearable for a moderate power setting with the TRIA laser. However, despite the overall temperature of the area of skin feeling very warm and pain relief cream to the point that a tiny amount seeped inside the treatment head to the other side of the transparent window forming a small, clear yellow spot, the pain was still intense and despite using the entire battery charge with a power setting of 3~4 and repeating areas as dictated by the instructions, there was no noticeable reduction in hair growth except at the very edges of the area where hairs grew slanted with the roots close to the skin's surface.
What did happen, was it seemed oil glands opening on to the hair shafts had been damaged by the intense heat flux, causing a crusty residue around the hairs and other signs of damage to the skin immediately surrounding each hair! And yet a week later, those same hairs had seen no reduction in growth rate.
Next: using cold water to cool the skin, without the pain relief product, to try to focus the effect of TRIA laser on the roots of the follicles. Another full battery charge later, surprisingly with the same amount or less pain due to the numbing action of cold on surrounding nerves, there was again no noticeable reduction of hair in that area.
Finally resolving to try epilation again, which has problems in similar situations of relatively thick hairs and dense growth except with the added complication of skin tautness being needed to prevent additional (unnecessary) pain. It may even be necessary to use tweezers, which may take several hours but as you'll see it's worth it...
The next attempt was two days after epilation. It still huuurt, even with absolutely no visible hair growth, even while using ice to numb the entire area! Then again another two days after that. The result as seen several weeks later...
‣ 95% reduction of hairs rate on areas of 2~3 pulses on maximum power average coverage.
‣ 60% reduction of hairs (uneven) on areas of 1.5~2 pulses on maximum power, due to bending to reduce the amount of pulses needed to cover the area, instead of trying to stretch the skin to bring roots of the follicles closer to the surface of the skin.
On a different area with similar hair density, overlapping coverage of 2~3 pulses on cooled skin, one day after epilation, has lead to approximately 90% reduction of hairs at that area four weeks after a single session of TRIA laser, despite that the skin was actually slightly too dark to register as green on the skin sensor compared to skin tone of the surrounding areas. An agonizing session a week beforehand had lead to practically zero reduction of growth and even a slight burn due to over-application of laser light >.< Even when using ice to cool! A nearby region with slightly less dark skin (registering green on sensor) with slanting hairs and follicles close to the surface and equivalent density seemed to not have resulted in significant reduction prior to epilation, but a month afterwards that particular area is down 60~80% from normal (patchy) despite not having gone over that area a second time, but this unexpected result was due to the direction of hair growth allowing much more of the light to reach the hair roots instead of just being absorbed at the surface.
So as you can see, if you are accustomed to epilating before making the choice to invest in the TRIA laser, don't hesitate to do so one last time several days before using the TRIA on an area with relatively small follicles such as the leg, or the day before or even the day of for areas with somewhat larger hairs like the delicate zone. You will probably not have a reason to do so later on as identifying single hairs will become the focus instead of broad swaths of laser pulse application.
Other things to keep in mind:
‣ While using ice to cool the entire area does reduce pain, it also increases the number of pulses that must be applied per unit area.
‣ A momentary touch from ice or another cold object can cool the skin surface enough to keep it from being damaged for those with darker skin tones, while not propagating deeper within the skin before the destruction of the hair follicles can occur from repeated laser pulses.
‣ Just like with electrolysis, when the follicle is destroyed the resistance of the hair to being pulled out weakens drastically. If a hair doesn't do this when you apply the usual number of pulses, try tweezing it out and you'll probably see the hair narrowing as it approached the follicle and a pale dot at its end, which didn't absorb sufficient laser light to die and could mean the hair was in the wrong growth phase.
‣ Aim for the root of the follicle! When cleaning up isolated hairs on your legs this depends on the sub-surface hair length for slanted hairs. May help to not shave for several days so you can see which hairs are still growing, but this can also cause minor short-lived tiny burn marks from the hair on the surface so be careful.
I used it and my back is clean like a baby ass.

I bought the TRIA Laser Hair Removal three weeks ago and it seems to be working for me. I have got dark hair and pale skin - so perfect. The guide tells you to shave before using so as to reduce any pain. I got it online at http://www.pardomuanshop.com which was about £120 cheaper.
What an interesting device, I've been waiting for something like this.
hi,in Canada and US you can get it for 400 ,if you go to trytrialaser.ca they give you 5 payments with your credit card

great post, I am very well informed, apparently the laser hair removal method seems to be very efficient, you know what the recovery time after the intervention
Finally I bought one and even after quite a couple of weeks I am still happy with my Tria laser.
