Have you ever read a story and thought at first that it sounded a lot more exciting than it actually turned out to be? I mean in the bangs and whistles kind of way - this is probably very exciting for Mac robot developers.
Anyway, it's all to do with the Cocoa Toolkit, which has nothing do with chocolate and everything to do with robots. Pacific Parallel Research all-terrain robots, as it turns out, and the package of hardware and software it's showing off for educational purposes. Robots and control are big news in the educational world, so we've been seeing products like this LEGO-based one for younger kids for a while - the ex-teacher in me still notices these things! - but somehow this sounds a bit more... serious. All the same, if the "capable, expandable, 6 wheel drive" robot Pacific Parallel Research is showing off is anything like as fun, I promise I'll nab a video.
Pacific Parallel (Under development. Appropriately for a research company...)
