Well, we came, we saw, we blogged. Over 100 times, as it turned out. This year, the home cinema category was going for world domination, and sadly, there were less Segways to be seen. However, Segways aside, it was again jam packed full of both new and future technology. Here's a round up of what stood out for us.
1.The Sony Rolly
Is it an egg? Is it a robot? No, it's a dancing MP3 player. guaranteed to get any party started, we loved watching this bizarre little creature strut its stuff to Ricky Martin. Will anyone buy one? We're not convinced.
2. OLED screens
We were used to LCD screens claiming the size 0 crown, but now these OLED screens are bringing a new meaning to the phrase. No thicker than 3mm thick, they're got a perfect picture and practically disappear when turned sideways.
3. Motorola z10
There was a distinct lack of phones this year at CES, so Motorola almost won this spot by default. However, their Z10 appeals to us because of its fantastic video editing and uploading functionality, so we're happy to have them in our top ten.
4. 150” Plasma
Sharps paltry 112” plasma looks positively teensy next to Panasonic's monster screen. Not only did they break the record – they smashed clear through it. We're looking forward to next year where we hope to see a screen the size of Las Vegas.
5. In car karaoke
We never knew we wanted it until we saw it. But think about it – where else do you belt out your Power Ballad classics with your mates but in the car? As an aside, the unit is actually designed to have GPS as its primary feature, but who cares about that?
6. Griffin wireless speakers
iPod accessories should have had their own hall this year, so standing out in a sea of mediocrity was essential. Griffin achieved this by bringing us truly wireless iPod speakers, which could stream music up to 250 feet away from the docked iPod.
7. Bill Gates Guitar Hero
It pays to have friends in rock'n'roll places. Watching Slash play Guitar Hero at Bill's bequest was one of our highlights, as was his star-studded film final bow.
8. Toshiba reply to the Warner Bros HD announcement
This is what it looks like when hope dies, people. It was painfully apparent in the press conference that everyone was just there to see whether Toshiba were going to breakdown and cry in public. Luckily, the spokesperson held her head high, and made us hate Warner Brothers.
9. The latest Wowee robots
We have a long history of loving all that Wowee brings us, from Homer Simpson robots to scary little arachnids. They've taken a more cuddly approach with their latest toys, and these wild animals are as smart as they are cute.
10. Logitech DiNovo Mini wireless keyboard
We got the scoop on this one before CES even started. As a big fan of peripherals, I fell in love with this and you should too. Not only does it make fantastic use of pretty, it can control both your Windows Media PC and your PS3. And it's so tiny!
