Three new models have been added to Samsung's L-Series point and shoot range of digital cameras. Two 8.1 megapixel models, the L110 and the L100 join the 10.1 megapixel L210 in its debut. All three have a 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.5" LCD screen which brightens or dims according to the ambient lighting conditions. They aim to add traditionally higher end features into more affordable units.
The L210 and L110 offer Dual Image Stabilisation (optical plus digital), with the L100 using just digital image stabilisation to compensate for the shaky of hand (like me). All have Face Detection, Self Portrait and Red Eye Fi modes as well as an intuitive Multi-Slide Show feature for reviewing and sharing images. You can drop in transitions and set images to scroll to music preloaded on the camera or gleaned from your favourite MP3s.
Another universal feature is the Function Description. Designed specifically for newer or more technophobe users, it provides a simple description of each setting when scrolling through the camera menus and what's more there's a Photo Help Guide for nervous snappers. The i-movie mode also offers SVGA 800 x 592 MPEG-4 video recording and editing including Successive Recording if you need to stop and start without creating separate files.
The L110 and L100 are available next month for $229 and $199 respectively, with the L210 following in March for around $269.
