This isn't the first time we've come across Nokia's Eco Sensor Project, although this time we've got some video of the concepts. The last time I wrote about it I ended up being what some might call negative (in my words: realistic); I was reminded of my cynicism today when the Nokia PR woman, who was genuinely extremely lovely and helpful, was telling me all about Nokia's great eco-friendly concepts whilst standing under a huge, energy-hungry screen playing Nokia ads on a loop.
Having said that, it's all about the eco-baby-steps, isn't it? We're not going to give up our gadget friendliness that easily (at least, I hope not or I'm out of a job), but it's good to see high profile companies taking approaches like these. In case the sound quality makes it a little difficult to understand what's going on, in a nutshell it's an environment-reading system (temperature, heart rate etc) that's self-powered by solar panels, the information from which can be easily beamed to a companion mobile phone.
