*deep breath* Thank God it's not sixteen new cameras or my hands would shrivel up and fall off. Among the recycled eco-calculators seen on Hippyshopper, lenses, photo printers and some laser faxes (zzzz - sorry) is a clutch of shiny camera stuff we're liking the sound of.
A candy-coloured range of additions to the popular IXUS range, the eight megapixel Digital IXUS 80 IS is up first. Featuring new Motion Detection Technology, your amateur snaps should be blur-free, as you'll see when you preview them on the 2.5" PureColor LCD screen. There's 3x zoom, optical image stabilisation, Face Detection and automatic red-eye correction too. You can choose from one of the four new colours in March; get ready to shell out £219 for the pleasure.
What if you're a more confident snapper thinking of moving up to the world of the digital SLR?
Well, there's a new one of those too, in the form of the 12.2 megapixel EOS 450D. Packing a CMOS sensor with self-cleaning system, respectable 3" LCD screen and nine-point focus, it appears to fill the position of entry-to-semi-pro level camera. Twenty years of EOS-series camera development continues in this camera in the form of the DIGIC III image processor, and a newly redesigned menu system makes use of the features more accessible, as do 13 custom functions for tailoring your camera to you. Coming to a Canon retailer near you in March 2008 for £599.99 (or £679.99 with 18-55mm lens kit).
And... I think that's enough to take in for one camera announcement. Stay tuned to hear about three new PowerShot cameras shortly.
