It's always a worry when travelling that your home will stay safe, as news of tidal waves, earthquakes and chavs send fear deep into each of our hearts. Thank heavens then, that there is a new security system which not only monitors your home with all the usual rigmarole of motions sensors, panic buttons and tasers (joking), it also cares for your safety as well as security. To this effect it monitors levels of carbon monoxide and smoke, and in a scary Big Brother style, equips each member of the household with their own keyfob, so parents will know just what time their little ones got home Saturday night.

The truly paranoid/safety conscious can even check on how their house is doing from afar, as it sends you text message alerts and emails to let you know all is OK. Should anything really bad happen, you can freak out your friends by setting them up as emergency contacts, impersonally letting them know that you've had a break in and they have to sort it out. There are no wires or drilling involved, and as long as your batteries hold out, you'll have peace of mind, at 50% of the cost of larger security systems. You can's say safer than that now can you?
