Leonard%20invention.jpgAfter the peaks of CES, Macworld and last Thursday's mental camerafest, news is a little slow at the moment. So perhaps it's time to think of all the gadgets you're glad you haven't got.

Times Online has compiled a list of the ten most useless inventions of the 19th and 20th Century. This includes some with wonderfully Leonard of Quirm names, such as the "device for waking persons from sleep". Alarm clocks already existed, but surely lightly dropping weights on people's heads is so much better for them? Perhaps a balloon powered (and, apparently, steered) by eagles and vultures would be a more eco-friendly mode of transport for your next holiday. I'm not even going to go into the dangers of the inexplicable voice muffler...
