You know how reviews generally lack real life experience, as they're conducted in the office and it's not like Real Life? Well, this is not one of these. This one is different, since we put the Jivebox to a very real life test. Could it save the office Christmas party?
Yes, I took this speaker to our party, as a back-up plan to the sound system. And good job I did, since the music system was rubbish. We quickly set up this speaker, which was dead easy, comprising of a box and a plug, and stuck the iPod on top. There are three buttons on the front (power, volume up and volume down) which are all you need (there's also a remote included should you want more control).
And the sound? Fantastic.
Seriously. This is a really small box (18cmx18cmx18cm), but it packs some proper sound. It's got 2 Neodymium midrange drivers, 2 tweeters, and a Hi-X sub-woofer and a passive Hi-X bass radiator, which in English means that it's noisy and it handles both bass and tuneful stuff really well. In fact, that small box made enough noise to fill and room and get people dancing, which is pretty much the highest accolade a speaker can get.
For added glitz, the rim is an LED light, which you can change between three colours. Completely unnecessary, but still quite fun.
All in all, if we were in the habit of giving things stars in our reviews. This would get five (out of five, obviously).
Yay for the Jivebox - Saviour of the Christmas Partry!
