According to the official N-Gage blog, N81 owners will next week get exclusive access to a pre-release version of "one or more" N-Gage games, as well as access to the N-Gage platform. They will also open a forum allowing users to feedback on their experiences, to allow Nokia and users to "co-create the N-Gage games service".
As Pocket Gamer point out, this couldn't be much softer of a soft launch, with just one (and a half) handsets, one game and no big launch. Which makes us wonder if they're so unsure of it's merits why they're pursuing it in the first place...
