If you thought the lack of stock last year on the Wii was bad, you'd be forgiven for feeling quite exasperated that there still doesn't seem to be enough stock in the UK to cope with the Christmas demand. It seems the holiday season might have snuck up on Nintendo again (or they've diverted their units to another country...). So, what are the odds of you having a Wii shaped stocking filler? Here's what I've found from an internet trawl:
Comet: Out of stock
Argos: Out of stock
Currys: Out of stock
John Lewis: Out of stock
Game: Out of stock
Amazon: In stock from their resellers, but selling for 375 quid, where as RRP is £179!!!
eBay: There are lots available and are going for about £300.
There's also a neat little stock updater from this site, which promises to deliver you a pop-up when (if) stock becomes available in any of the big retailers. And if you're lucky enough to already have one, check out our Wii-devoted blog, the always amusing WiiWii.

Why do British sites have to use annoying American terms like 'holiday season'? If people don't like the word Christmas then use terms like the 'festive season' or something. Are we now so devoid of our cultural identity that we have to constantly ape the USA?
Fair point - I didn't even realise I'd done it, to be honest (which I guess makes it even worse?). In my defence, and it is a weak one, this site is read by both Americans and Brits...
We monitor the stock levels of the wii fit and it is practically impossible to buy it for the retail price online unless you're super quick. A wii fit yesterday came on for £69.99 and within 7 seconds it had been bought such is the demand in the UK.
Now the Wii Console and Wii Fit stock shortages ae well and truely past us, bring on the next! The new Nintendo 3DS console is set to take 2011 by storm with it's 3D gaming without the need for special glasses.
With the manufaturing numbers released by Nintendo recently, looks like there will be more Nintendo stock shortages for the 3DS console during 2011/12.
