Old-fashioned corn dog maker. Great, as long as you know what corn dogs are...

I'm English. I love toad-in-the-hole, shepard's pie and Marmite. But I also love kitchen gadgets. Mini doughnut makers make my heart quicken (and then slow, due to the excess of cholesterol which clogs my arteries as a result) and coffee machines have me reaching for my credit card.

However. I don't know what corn dogs are, so I'm finding it difficult to make a call on this one. Are they battered corn on the cobs on sticks? The manufacturer says that the machine is "great for your different deep fried taste" as it can deep fry anything from french fries to cheese sticks. It also plugs into any outlet "to get your frying experience started". And by frying experience, I assume they mean slow descent into obesity and subsequent related health issues.

Yes, corn dogs are awesome. They're a staple if you ever go to a fair! We too get them at the grocery store freezer section most of the time.

In Quebec (or at least in the Quebec half of my family) we call them pogos.

they're hot dogs on a stick that have been dipped in a corn meal batter and then deep fried. hence the "corn" & "dog." most people eat them with either mustard and/or ketchup - as the picture shows. like steve said before, it started out as a carnival or fair thing here in the US. :o)
