Navman's newest GPS range is more about accessibility than new features - changing the external appearance and interface of a gadget oft feared by technophobes. The S90i is the flagship, bells and whistles model in the new S series. Has the company succeeded with it? Watch on.

Supposedly the cherry (or top banana) of the Navman In-Car range .... but its actually a lemon !
I have a Navman S90i. Through normal use, a bug in the operating software rendered my S90i completely and instantly useless.
It is stuck in a loop between the splash screen and a re-occurring message, with no choice of exit or any other way to break the cycle. Even turning it off for any length period does not help.
I have contacted technical assistance through the Navman website and no support has been forthcoming.
So, my lovely, brand new and top-of-the-line Navman is currently a very expensive paper-weight, as it has no other useful purpose.
You would not want to trust the S90i to get you out of trouble. In an instant, it can bug out on you ... and you are on your own.
My Navman case ID number for my reported technical problem is 419466 ... and if anyone from Navman eventually cares to get back to me about this problem ... please do so !
The feature set seems great, however it has so many problems that is is useless. From the shop where I bought mine to my home, about three miles away, it made three navigation errors. When i deviated from its chosen route it took an age to notice. When parked on the road outside my house it shows me as being on the road that runs parallel. For Sheffield, UK (a large city) it shows no Doctors, no dentists, only one hospital, no police stations, no pharmacists, only one college, no restaurants only fast food outlets etc etc, basically the POIs are useless. It does not support telephone numbers for POIs as other satnavs do. The POIs only go out to about 10 miles. The touch screen is very temperamental and frequently gives spurious clicks and double clicks. There is noticeable lag when using the touch screen, sometimes in the order of seconds. The camera is feeble.
After having spent 250UKP I wanted to love this Navman, but instead I hated it so much I took it back for a refund.
Pros:
Good traffic reporting.
Nice display.
Loads of accessories.
Cons:
Very poor touch screen.
Slow Navigation response.
Several mapping errors within just a few miles of the shop!
Almost useless POI set and features.
Poor quality feel.
Very few customizing options for a top line item.
looks very good
