Following on from the award-winning G600’s camera-focussed features, Samsung has launched another high megapixel camera phone. The G800 also has 3 x optical zoom, a unique feature among the new spate of five megapixel phones. Features more commonly found on dedicated digital cameras such as face detection and Wide Dynamic Range are also included.
The G800 is a compact, businesslike slider, which also has a Xenon flash for clear pictures in low light conditions. Aware that snapping the photo is only half of what’s expected from a camera phone, Samsung has wisely opted to make the G800 an HSDPA supporting handset and added a moblogging feature.
The 2.4” screen makes previewing photos easier and the optical zoom does not require the lens to extend from the body of the camera, keeping it slim and light and minimising likelihood of damage. Expect to see a major ad campaign launching the G800 across Europe to herald its availability from November.
