Philips WAV3500D Streamium Wireless Audio Center: let it entertain you

WAC3500%20weblarge.jpgA combination of a reasonably generous 80GB hard drive, Internet radio connection*, iPod dock and USB ports means that you should be able to access any and all of your favoured media on the Philips WAC3500D. It's a £299.99 wireless digital music system designed to store up to 1500 CDs and stream them wireless to any and all of five WiFi stations placed where you please around the house.

Listen to the same track as you go room to room or create a different atmosphere in each part of the house. You can attach your iPod or drag and drop files from your PC if you don't have them stored in the hard drive. If you do rip your CDs you can choose from MP3 bit rates of 128 - 320kbps and VBR / WMA at 16-128kbps with access to Gracenotes for all your slightly misspelt song titles. Playback is through a 2 x 40 watt RMS amplifier with compact speakers.

*Update: Philips has informed us that, perplexingly, the web radio feature has been removed from the UK market edition of the WAV3500D. Which makes it about half as interesting.
