Epson Stylus Photo R1900: Hi-Def, A3 photo printing for the home

epson_printer.jpgMost of the time we share our photos online through Flickr and Facebook, and some of us have even progressed to the digital photo frame. But sometimes (and I have enough elderly relatives demanding christening photos to know this) a printout is useful and up until now photo printers have sometimes produced disappointing results. Epson is aiming to make that a thing of the past with a larger size printer, allowing A3 poster-sized pics to be printed with glossy, high definition colour.

Epson UltraChrome Hi-Gloss Ink technology widens the colour range to produce truer colours and consistency especially when it comes to things like skin tones.

This means adding matte black, photo black, red, orange and gloss optimiser to the usual C, M and Y to create 18,446,744 trillion colour combinations. Along with droplet size variations where more or less detail is required, that makes for a pretty bloody good print, I'd imagine. You can print to paper, card, CD and DVD and connect your digital camera or picture viewer directly too. Available November 2007 for £399.99.
