There's going to be another Apple announcement on Wednesday at 5 o'clock, and inevitably it's got us all speculating on what it could be. Now Big Brother is over, you're going to have to find something else to bet on. So, here are the predictions along with the odds, according to the Shiny Shiny bookmakers.
1. Widescreen iPod Nano
Odds: 2/1
Could this be it in the picture? These photos were leaked/photoshopped and sent to GearLive. Who's to say if they're real or not. There's little doubt however that Apple will be launching a new iPod, widescreen or not. Other possibilities include the inclusion of WiFi and a touchscreen, similar to the iPhone.
2. iPhone ringtones on iTunes
Odds: 3/1
Not a particularly exciting development, especially if you're in the UK and can't get your hands on an iPhone anyway. Still, worth putting a few quid on.
3. iTunes to launch a subscription service
Odds: 10/1
I'd love this to be true, but it's not looking great. Apple don't need to launch a economic subscription service - we're all using it without it.
4. iTunes kiosks
Odds: 15/1
They'd be dotted all over North America, and allow you to dock your iPod and dump songs on it on the fly. Featuring a touchscreen interface (a bit of detail adds so much to a made up rumour, no?) and payment by both credit card and iTunes giftcard it also lets you sample songs for a minute. Well, that's what they're saying over on the PDA Live forums.
