We spent a significant time last week trawling the exhibition halls with a video camera in tow, checking out the latest tech in the flesh (so to speak. Clearly I'm aware gadgets don't actually have flesh, unless you count plastic and chrome as flesh. And I don't). Anyway, here are the best 5 from last week - if you're going to check out just one, make it the Aquos Sharp dance. It's worth it.
1. The Aquos dance
It's a Eurovision song contest entry waiting to happen, and happened at the Sharp stand every hour, on the hour. Oh, what a wonderful way to mark the passing of time...
2. Philips launching their swarovski crystal range
This range is bound to divide opinion, but there's no doubt about it - Philips have produced some headphones and USB storage devices which genuinely look like actual pieces of jewellery. Whether you want your tech to look like jewellery is another matter all together...
3. The new Sony Ericsson cybershots
By Alex's own admission she wanted to break open the glass cabinet and steal these new phones. And you can see why...
4. Sharp's 20mm prototype LCD TV
There's nothing like a good prototype to get people excited, and the phenomenal thinness (word? not a word?) of this Sharp TV had everyone talking.
5. Philips CEO talks about marketing to women
In truth, the interview was a few days before IFA, but it was a great opportunity to talk about how one of the biggest CE electronics players out there are addressing marketing to us. According to Rudy Provoost, we've got the money, we're just not being given the info. Go us!
