First cheap iPod Touch knock off clone?

potronics_iphone_clone.jpgWell, no. Although that's what PMP Today is calling it - while pointing out it's been available on Amazon since the end of July - I suspect that the similarity intended was to the iPhone, and given that the iPod Touch was also inspired by Apple's ultra-successful phone... well, you see where I'm going with this.

Look closer and there are some good reasons not to invest in this clone. For a start, though we complained about the iPod Touch's faintly parsimonious capacity, this only holds 2GB. The Portronics-made device does have a mini-SD slot to add another 4GB and the touch screen is only a shade smaller at 2.8". Supported formats are MPEG-4, AVI, WMA, MP3 and JPEG and it shoehorns in a speaker, FM tuner and microphone, although given it appears to be thicker even than an iPhone that's not quite as impressive. Still the price is a lot friendlier, at $105 (£53).

The temptation to get one is great, but I think I will hold out for the real thing. Besides, with Apple's price drop on the iPhone it's almost worth getting one of THOSE.

can you plug headphones into this product?

Yeah, at the top. I have one of these and it's pretty nice. I have a lot of 4 gb mini SD cards. The sound and video is great too. I would get this for the cheap price until you could afford the iPod touch if you don't have enough money yet.
