Nokia Prism comes to European shores - looks good, doesn't do anything new

nokia_prism-thumb.jpg Last month we showed you the new Nokia Prism's rather fetching looks upon it's launch in China, and now it's finally coming to European shores. While it isn't mind-blowing in spec, if you're into the looks side of your gadgetry it should certainly float your boat.

The two handsets which are being introduced, the Nokia 7900 and 7500, feature distinctive diamond keypads and light-refracting colour screens. The 7900 in black features an anodised and laser-etched aluminium backcover, an organic LED main display that supports up to 16 million colours and displays light-focused screensaver graphics and a "living wallpaper", which changes throughout the day according to time as well as battery and signal strength.

It also offers a choice of 49 illumination colours. On the inside, it's a 3G phone with two megapixel camera and 1GB of internal memory. No complaints there then, but nothing especially mind-blowing.

The Nokia 7500, ludicrously titled 'the Nokia 7900 Prism's quirky sibling', is a decidedly different set of spec, with pretty similar looks. While this doesn't have 3G, it does have a two megapixel camera, video recording functionality and a media player that can play music for up to nine hours. Really a judgement call on where your phone capability priorities lie.

This flash pair will be available in the third quarter of 2007 for around €400 for the Nokia 7900 Prism and €210 for the Nokia 7500 Prism. A price rather indicative of the spec, to my mind.
