Freeview Playback has awarded the first "Group 2" Freeview Playback certification to LG's Time Machine LCD and plasma TV range. This means that the devices have to carry such features as "schedule tracking", "auto-buffering" (not missing a bit of EastEnders because the footie ran over, basically) and "series recording", which is pretty self-explanatory and means faster programming.
The Time Machine range is available in the UK from October this year and will consist of TVs with built in DVRs, twin tuners and EPGs. You'll be able to access over 40 free channels, record one channel while watching another and store up to around 80 hours of television on a 160GB hard drive. The range will consist of the 32", 37" and 42" gloss black HD Ready LT75 LCD series and the PT85 plasma range in 42" and 50".
