He's created a jacket which indicates to traffic your intentions without you having to lift a finger, so to speak. Before you turn a corner an indicator goes off, set off by the tilt switch employed when you raise your arm to indicate (you don't raise your arm? You fool). An "accelerometer" turns an LED panel mounted on your back green when you are going forward, and recognises when you're slowing down, so turns red to alert surrounding traffic. He's won a design award, and hopes to find a manufacturer before Christmas. And unlike many prototypes out there, this one is actually worth making.

Although, of course, it's often better and safer not to indicate your intentions to car drivers.
If you're a newbie cyclist, I strongly recommend reading Cyclecraft (HMSO) and/or getting some on-road cycle training. Quite often, the things you do as a car driver or pedestrian, and naturally carry across to cycling, or the things in the Highway Code, are actually dangerous to do as a cyclist.
So, for instance, signalling a left turn encourages impatient drivers behind you to start to speed up and pass you. Dangerous if at that point you wobble, or need to stop for some reason. It is often better to simply turn left without signalling.
Good luck on the streets...
