First we had Smirting, now we have Smexting

Gosh darn it, even if you don't smoke you can't get away from the annoyingly catchy abbreviations that seem to have sprung up in the wake of the smoking ban. Now we don't have people chatting on street corners while they smoke, no, it's all smirting, and even texting while we have a discrete puff needs to gain a name, smexting , the (surprise) combination of smoking and texting. Apparently forcing people to spark up outside had lead to a dramatic rise in the number of texts being sent; according to a recent Orange survey it was revealed that Britons were sending an average 519 million texts in the first two weeks of July, compared to a paltry 512 million in the last two weeks of June. It seems that social smokers can't cope with a whole five minutes of solitary nicotine and are turning to their mobiles to alleviate the boredom of standing on their own.
