A California Fitness Center in Hong Kong is feeling, and storing, the burn, by taking the electricity produced by punters pounding the treadmills and bikes and using it to power the gym itself, storing the excess in batteries. California Fitness president Steve Clinefelter explains that "someone running an hour each day on a machine can generate 18.2 kilowatts of electricity and prevent 4,380 liters of CO2 from being released each year." Hippyshopper would be proud.
