Our fantastically crazy Japanese cousins are at it again. There are plans to erect an 18 foot statue of a shiny blue robot called Gigantor in Kobe.
The statue is designed to simultaneously commemorate the life of the late Mitsuteru Yokoyama and the revitalization of the surrounding areas since the 1995 Kobe earthquake. And what better way to pay tribute than Gigantor? Costing an estimated ¥135 million ($1.09 million) the statue is to be completed next Spring. And that's something I'd fly across the world to view. Especially if I chose the day it got struck by lightning and came to life, crashing across the city looking for its maker. Not that I want to scare any of you...
