Way back in June, iLike was just like any other struggling online music community site, glaring at all of the more successful online community websites from a distance. But now, according to Yahoo News, they're "the fastest-growing digital music service on the Internet, registering 1 million new users per week and fielding information requests from record labels every half-hour". Dang! And it turns out, they've got Facebook to thank for that. In September Facebook opened up its registration to anyone, and then in May, they allowed outside developers build their own custom applications/widgets, and iLike jumped straight in.
In fact, iLike is so confident in their mad widget skillz, their CEO, Ali Partovi says: "Comparing the Facebook platform to (MySpace) widgets is like comparing the emergence of mammals to dinosaurs." In yo face, Myspace!
