A solar charger might not be the most useful gadget in the rather tempestuous climate that is Britain's, but should you be camping or holidaying abroad, it takes away the pain of frantically searching for a compatible adaptor. The Universal Solar Charger from Brando does what it says on the tin, and works with pretty much every device you can throw at it. iPods? No problem. Nokia's? Hell yeah. Plus Samsung, and Sony Ericsson -the list goes on, and on. I challenge you,in fact, to find something you can't charge with this nifty device, which can also be powered through the mains on days when cloud cover simply doesn't lift.
It has intelligent voltage adjusting currents to protect your hardware and double short circuit protection if things get a little too heated. It weighs in at 240g and is definitely going in my suitcase this holiday.
