Bakespace.com joins partnership with KitchenAid, yet still seems a bit too cutesy

Although Bakespace.com has been out since August 2006, it's new partnership with KitchenAid is proving to breathe new life into the social networking site for "cookers and cakers". Claiming to be the perfect place for you to "make friends, swap recipes and share your kitchen", Bakespace seems to be trying really hard to be hip and down with all the Web 2.0 jazz. They even have a cutesy "link to us" section that allows its users to drop fancy badges 'round the web, promoting Bakespace and to let the internet know that it's where "the cute girls cook". *gag*

Aside from the irritating concept, their design seem particularly horrible. It appears that more time and money went into creating a Cafe Press shop where you can buy a Bakespace shirt for your chihuahua, than its usability. The "Team Room" is supposedly a chat room, but it's so unprofessional looking I can't even tell if its actually working...

What do you think about Bakespace.com?
