Virgin Media may not be making any friends at Sky Digital, but they're definitely launching a charm offensive at the consumer. Virgin 1 arrives this autumn with a clutch of newly-commissioned, newly-acquired and existing hit shows, aiming, in the words of Virgin Media Television's Managing Director Jonathan Webb, to "shake up multi-channel and free-to-air TV".
Virgin 1 will be available on Freeview and digital satellite; broadband users and Virgin Media subscribers benefit from the fact that the channel will be part of VMTv's On Demand service. Webb adds: "It will be a creative tour de force and a cutting-edge example of any time, any place content."
