Peter Gabriel has established a website, We7, that allows people to download free music while still ensuring the artists get paid. The We7 service can avoid DRM-locked tracks by grafting demographic- targetted advertising onto the tracks. Ad-free tracks are also available at the normal price. Now indie label V2 has just signed with We7 with an agreement that will see the label's full back catalogue available free, legally and safely on we7.com. This announcement comes as V2 celebrates its 10th anniversary and looks to future music channels to support its artists in an increasingly digital music world.
The press release explains more about the deal.
