The new 'Odo' concept from Sony has ethical consumers hugging themselves with delight. We've had wind-up lamps and other similarly energy efficient devices, but a wind-up camera? Could we really be able to top up the charge of such a battery-hungry gadget? Sony think so.
The Spin 'N Snap camera pictured would do just that. Expand, pop fingers in holes and turn, spinning a dynamo that produces the juice. It doesn't appear to have a screen (which explains to some extent how hand cranking can provide the necessary power), but apparently the materials for this and other concepts in the range would also be made out of recycled plastic and generally ethically sound.
