It comes as no surprise to hear that the Spice Girls are having some teething troubles with their vocal ability, as they were a band that thrived more on their in your face attitude, platforms and Girl power ethos rather than their talented harmonies and melodies ( may I remind you of the catchy but off key success that was Wannabe?) Now in their old age (well, mid thirties) it seems the 'girls' don't wish to endure any more ridicule for their voices so are turning instead to technology to help them.
On stage they will employ a hi-tech system that will use digitally enhanced voices rather than their own, so the Spice Girls won't be lip syncing to the tracks. The voices we hear are the girls own, but the tech takes the live audio and compares it to the perfect vocal sounds that have already been recorded in the studio. When the girls sing out of tune on stage, the mistakes in their voices are instantaneously corrected - in less than a tenth of a second - by computer to perfect the pitch and tone. And it is this remastered "virtual voice" which belts out across the arena. The girls' vocals are altered so quickly that it will appear the resulting perfect voices are live and their own.
It's not quite miming, but it ain't 100% live either, letting us hear them in a curious middle ground. This technology takes us to a whole new level in 'live' music, and leaves me slightly uncomfortable. Where can we go from here? Will politicians voices be mechanically altered to sound more confident and friendly? The whole live aspect of performances is under threat; and it seems that the digital media is winning its battle over out of key music. Is this a good thing? You decide.

Somehow i don't believe it. Seeing how 3 of the 5 girls have done live(and accoustic) preformances in the past year and half...
what a lot of shit u are writing, melanie just said yesterday on the annoucment its NOT TRUE and they don't have to proove anything, u will see at the concert, nothing better to write?!
Well, this has been done for almost 10 years, it's called Autotune and is used both in studios (mostly the software version) and on stage (even on gasp! West End Theaters!).
Someone found out that if you maxed the correction parameter you'd get a "cool" sound: Hello Cher! (used on the song "Believe") and has been used to death ever since.
All pitch correcting technologies has their drawbacks, but I defy most people attending a concert with moderately Autontuned vocals to recognize the parts where it's used.
what? you must be idiots posting this..
the girls said this storty is utter bullshit..
and you're forgetting something, they already have toured around the world singinh live.. and i was in 2 of their concerts and they were brilliant.. this site sucks for not getting the facts right. *point & pout*
