Personal Life Media launch their summer programme, Living Dialogues, a range of podcasts to top up your iPod with for a full summer of self-improvement. Exploring the realm of consciousness and transformational thought, the series, hosted by Duncan Campbell, contains topics ranging from the bio-dynamics of longevity to the origins of belief structures that define our culture.
Personal Life Media is a web publisher of lifestyle content including audio programmes, podcasts and blogs. It produces 15 free weekly shows targeted at adults interested in personal growth by well known visionaries and thinkers, and since its launch just 90 days ago has made it to the iTunes top 100, quite an impressive feat. What is it, then, that Personal Life Media has tapped into that we’re so eager to hear?
They claim it’s the deep and personal nature of the podcasting medium, where podcasters speaking to their webcam speak more freely than they would in a TV studio, for example. Certainly, that’s part of it, but I think we’re beginning to step away from the ‘incessant entertainment’ phenomenon and realize that, if we’re able to spend six hours of each day with headphones in our ears, perhaps we could benefit by spending some of that time listening to something more…useful.
Into that niche boldly stepped Personal Life Media with an astonishing range of topics covering green issues, relationships, work-life balance, family, and quite a lot of sex. Serious audio shows like ‘The Art and Heart of Negotiation: Resolving Conflict and Building Agreement’ or ‘Communicative Excellence’ jostle for popularity with the jaded ‘3 Men Tell Us What Turns Them ON’ and ‘Does He Want To Date You Or Marry You’. There’s news: ‘Children are Safely ReConnecting with Nature to Reduce Childhood Obesity and ADD’, and there’s encouragement: ‘YOU Have the Power to Achieve Sustainable Happiness’. There are enough interesting titles there that it might be days before you get back to iTunes.
